Jean Pritchard

Owl and Peacock by Jean Pritchard

Jean Pritchard is a full-time artist working from her home, which she shares with her husband and daughter, on the edge of the Lake District. She spent many years doing scientific Illustration but after having her daughter and spending some years managing a family she is happy to be back doing what she loves best.

'My first love is watercolours but I am beginning to enjoy oils and feel I can achieve certain feelings and moods in oils which I cannot in watercolours'

Through her paintings she hopes to inspire an awareness of our surroundings.

She is herself inspired by the details that we do not often notice and her paintings often depict close-up views as well as the wider picture. Jean has a passion for Barn Owls and loves to try and capture that ‘magical moment’ when you see your first Owl in the wild. A close association with The World Owl Trust at Muncaster castle feeds her passion and her paintings have been used for fund raising for the Trust. She was very proud when the 'Owl man' himself Mr Tony Warburton acquired one of her pictures after recognising the owl!Tythe by Jean Pritchard

She has exhibited at major exhibitions all over the country including The National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, The Association of Animal Artists and the prestigious Lakes Arts Society of Artists, as well as supporting her local exhibitions and galleries.

Her Original paintings hang in collections in this country and abroad. She has taught watercolours for many years to adults and holds her own classes and workshops in the area where she lives.
