Mark Gibbs

Currently Mark is making sculptures of Northern animals; creatures of forest, moor and tundra. His wolves and reindeer roam across gallery walls, while under the permafrost issues of environmentalism emerge.
Animals such as bison, reindeer and wolves are presented as shamanic guardian spirits; beasts of power with ancient antecedence, yet inhabiting a diminished, fractured environment. His work explores the contrast between the strength and resilience of these animals, and the fragility of their environment... a meditation on the ephemeral nature of life itself.

Mark’s work has been exhibited internationally and was highly commended at the 2010 Wildlife Artist of the Year Competition.
Mark is happy to discuss commissions and other projects and can be contacted via his website where more images can be seen.
